About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Social Worker with over 20 years of experience.  I specialize in working with individuals, couples and families.  

I maintain a private practice in the cities of Grayson, Johns Creek and Cumming .. although all currently are provided via Virtual TeleMental Health.  

I am an interactive, solution-focused therapist. My therapeutic approach is to provide support, cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral modification and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges.  I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client.  

With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth each are committed to accomplishing.

Education :

Associate of Arts Degree in Sociology from The Ohio State University:  emphasis on cultural studies/foreign affairs, child development, disabilities and autism.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University:  emphasis on research/design of programs for issues such as MRDD, sexual trauma, alcoholism in the family, adolescents, cutting behaviors, depression and severe mentally challenged. 

I was awarded Most Supportive Colleague Award from my peers.

Master of Arts Degree with Honors from The Ashland Theological Seminary/University in Clinical and Pastoral Counseling:  emphasis on group work, research/program design, Christian Counseling, life transitions, quality of life, learning adaptations, depression, child, adolescents and adults.

I am licensed as an LSW (Licensed Social Worker) in Ohio, an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in GA.   I am currently working on Life Coaching and Substance Abuse Professional Certifications.

Areas of experience :


I have extensive experience in working Outpatient settings for runaway teens and their families, crisis interventions, trauma victims, domestic violence, depression, mood disorders, bullying, divorced families, cutting behaviors, self esteem issues, ACOA families, mediation with families, suicidal clients, organization at work, home and school, anxiety, program designs, school presentations, community mental health speaker, professional trainer; and teaching - establishing learning adaptations at Huckleberry House, SAFE House, Behavioral Solutions; Self-Esteem groups at Gwinnett County Schools, and A Life's Journey, Inc.

I have worked extensively in Community Mental Health Centers (CMHC's) such as The Association for Developmental Disabilities, Mansfield CMHC, Marion Area CMHC, & Southwest CMHC for child/adolescents and their families ...

in areas such as ADHD, autism, mainstreaming developmentally disabled children into classrooms, bipolar disorders, MRDD, life transitions, crisis interventions, home-based interventions, wrap-around services, diagnostic assessments and evaluations, depression, parenting, behavioral modifications, sexual abuse survivors, depression, bullying, & program re-designs.  

Extensive experience with the Ohio Juvenile Justice/Courts for first time juvenile offenders and as mental health liaison for the courts; Counselor in Inpatient settings such as Hospice of Columbus, oncology/ICU/ER floors at Children's Hospital of Columbus, Ohio; and as the Director of Brawner PHP/IOP Substance abuse programs.

I have served as a Mentor and College Practicum Instructor/Supervisor from 1989 - 1995 for Bachelor and Masters students studying Counseling and Social Work at Universities such as The Ohio State University, Franklin University and Columbus State.  

In 1974 I was a part of a missionary team in Haiti working in their Children's Hospital.

I have a true passion to help people work through their next step in their Journey.  Life can often present new opportunities and struggles that we would not have anticipated and I would like be here to assist you, as you walk through what often feels like the valley in your life.

I have learned that often what appeared to be obstacles are often stepping stones in our journey.
